Never call a suspected scammer back

Caller ID can be spoofed, and a displayed number may belong to an uninvolved person or business. Stall the Scam only works with an incoming call the user chose to answer. It never originates or returns calls.

Never use real personal information

Do not share names, addresses, account numbers, passwords, verification codes, payment details, documents, or answers to security questions. Do not confirm information the caller already claims to have.

Never install software or move money

Do not download remote-access tools, visit caller-provided links, buy gift cards, transfer funds, purchase cryptocurrency, or allow access to a device.

Do not target real organizations or individuals

Scambaiting is not a tool for disputes, revenge, debt collection, telemarketing you dislike, personal contacts, or emergency services. When there is doubt, hang up and verify through an official channel.

Do not expect removal from a list

There is no reliable evidence that keeping one scammer occupied will remove your number from future calling lists. It may have no effect, and engagement can reveal that a number is active. Stall the Scam makes no call-reduction guarantee.

Report the attempt
